Jardín Juarez

Among the ancient streets of Abasto, the Cure Venegas and Blood of Christ (now Victoria, Diaz Miron and Juárez, respectively), there was a large area arranged in 1906, which the City Council put the name of Place de la Concorde.

During the revolutionary government of General Juan Jose Rios (1914-1917) this place was a total transformation by members of the Third Battalion members come to Colima Red to join the army and fight Constitutionalist across the country, supporting the revolutionary movement that proposed the expedition of laws that favor workers’ lives.

Among the works undertaken by the Red Battalion is quoted as: he built a large part of the building that would be used for School of Arts and Crafts which was not completed, several years later as dealing room house, primary school, government offices and departments of the State Executive Committee of the PRI.

In the rest of the Place de la Concorde was plotted named Garden of the Benefactor, rising in the center a beautiful monument topped by an excellent bust of Mr. Benito Juárez, which was modeled by sculptor Colimense Leonilo Chavez.
