Rey de Colimán

This work was carried out by the Mexican sculptor John F. Olaguíbel, to exalt the figure of teco hueytlatoani succumbed brave defending their territory during the incursion of Spanish conquistador Gonzalo de Sandoval in 1523.

Represent an Indian warrior arrogant attitude in defending their people and their land. The sculpture rests on a pedestal and this is a circular socket quarry. At the bottom bears the inscription King of Colima and the surface of the pedestal are carved in bas-relief art, customs and activities pre-Cortesian villagers and two beautiful inscriptions.

This monument is over 8 feet tall and was inaugurated on September 16, 1955, the end of government administration of Major General Jesus Gonzalez Lugo, is located at the confluence of the avenues King of Colima, Calzada Galvan and November 20 .
